Like Food Banks across the country, the Calgary Food Bank has seen an unprecedented increase in demand this past year. In 2022, Council raised just over $80,000 in food and funds for Calgarians in need. We hope to surpass that number this year.

On November 10th, Love with Humanity Association in collaboration with the SE Calgary Community Resource Centre, celebrated the grand opening of a new community outdoor food pantry and multicultural outdoor free library in Ogden.
Community food pantries provide easy, dignified access to food for anyone who needs it. No questions asked, no referral needed. Community members can collectively donate food to the pantry for their neighbours in need to utilize.

The 78 Avenue Project is a significant undertaking and will be completed prior to main Green Line construction in this location. The project will enhance mobility and pedestrian safety around the future Ogden station. The 78 Avenue Project includes 3 elements:
A vehicle tunnel through the embankment at 78 Avenue S.E.
A pedestrian tunnel through the embankment at 72 Avenue S.E.
Road upgrades for 78 Avenue S.E. and Ogden Dale Road S.E. Once complete, 69 Avenue S.E. will be permanently closed at the intersection with the CPKC tracks.
Although we were hopeful to finish construction on the Bridetland Active Modes Improvements this year, warm and dry weather is necessary in order to complete the remaining work. Due to inclement weather, construction timelines for this project have changed. The remainder of the work is now being scheduled to be completed in the 2024 construction season.

The City of Calgary is investing in one of Calgary's oldest neighbourhoods to keep it safe, beautiful, and vibrant. With the recent completion of the new 9 Avenue S.E. bridge and updates to the CPKC Rail bridge and tracks, plus the future installation of the Green Line LRT bridge, we are looking to potentially improve and expand the pathway on the east side of the Elbow River between the Bow River and the McDonald Bridge, including underneath the 9 Avenue S.E. bridge. Improving this pathway would improve accessibility and connectivity for all Calgarians between the communities of Inglewood and Ramsay, the future LRT station, the River Walk and other connecting pathways, and surrounding amenities.

A beloved wildlife sanctuary in Calgary has received much-needed upgrades to repair flood damage and erosion, improve water quality and restore habitats for the birds, fish and other animals that call the park home.
Established in 1929 as one of the first migratory bird sanctuaries in the country, the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary is the only federally-recognized urban facility of its kind in Canada. Over time, human use, natural processes and large-scale events – such as the 2013 flood – have impacted the park's features, including the 100-year old lagoon, outlets and channels. The outfall structures, which regulate water levels, reached the end of their lifecycle and the inlet to the lagoon was filled with sediment, disconnecting the lagoon from the river and impacting water and wildlife health as well as fish passage through the area
