GreenLine Community Event - Former Lilydale Site Demolition
As the GreenLine project continues towards the start of main construction, communities along the future LRT line will start to see changes as Early Works projects are undertaken. These projects pave the way for future GreenLine transit infrastructure, help minimize project risks, and create efficiencies for construction of GreenLine tracks, stations, tunnels, and bridges.
One of these projects is the demolition of the former Lilydale chicken factory located in Ramsay. In 2017 The City of Calgary began working with Sofina Foods to acquire the land of the Lilydale plant, and in January 2022, The City took possession of the land and began plans for its demolition.
Currently, GreenLine's contractor, Dakota Inc., is on-site coordinating the demolition, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.
The GreenLine team knows the Ramsay community is eager to see the revitalization of this property. While interior demolition work has been ongoing for several weeks now, the work will now progress to exterior demolition work starting on November 8.
Ahead of demolition, residents are invited to stop by for one final look inside the building. Drop in and join the GreenLine Team to mark the start of demolition and enjoy some coffee and light snacks.
