Phase 2: Dover Neighbourhood Streets Project
Phase 2 of the Dover Neighbourhood Streets project will begin later this summer.
Phase 2 includes more walking and wheeling improvements and traffic calming along several streets in the Dover community, including 36 St. S.E., 28 St. S.E., Gosling Way S.E. and Dover Ridge Dr. S.E. The design process is underway and will incorporate feedback from Phase 1 engagement on initial concepts for these corridors.
We are delivering on most of the project's original corridors, except Gosling Way and 36 Street. The proposed improvements on Gosling Way S.E. could not be accommodated for cost and feasibility reasons. We understand that Gosling Way provides access to several amenities and we will continue to look for opportunities to improve that connection in the near future. The proposed pathway segment on 36 St S.E. will be delivered as part of a separate project called Ward 9 Connections.
Dover Neighbourhood Streets - Phase 1 update
Phase 1 of the project on 34 Avenue was completed in 2023 with temporary materials. It included decreasing traffic from four to two lanes to accommodate the new two-way wheeling lanes on the north side of the road. This year we will be progressing with the detailed design work to make changes permanent and naturalize the excess pavement on the north side. The construction is planned for 2025.
