The Dover Little Free Library Celebrates 10 Awesome Years!

CBC recently spoke with community volunteer Karen Begg, steward of the Dover Little Free Library, to learn about some of the incredible history and evolution of this wonderful community asset as it celebrates its 10th anniversary.

Located at 30th Avenue and 33rd Street SE, the Dover Little Free Library started as a way to share books, but has evolved over time to include things like seeds, food and produce, and a whole lot of community spirit.

Ogden Road SE: Weekend Closure - May 25 + 26

Ogden Road from 76 Avenue to 80 Avenue SE will be closed for catch basin upgrades starting Saturday, May 25 at 6:00 am until the evening of Sunday, May 26.

This project requires the closure of Ogden Road SE from 76 Avenue to 80 Avenue SE to traffic and pedestrians to ensure efficient, safe, and timely construction.
Ogden Road SE will be closed to all but local traffic between 76 Ave and 78 Ave SE.
Transit stops will be temporarily relocated on Ogden Road SE north of 76 Ave SE and there may be some parking restrictions in effect.

INGLEWOOD AQUATIC CENTRE PERMANENT CLOSURE UPDATE

The Inglewood Aquatic Centre has been identified as one of 13 City-operated recreation facilities that require major electrical repairs. While there is no safety risk for customers or staff accessing the facility, there is a risk the electrical system could unexpectedly fail. In consideration of Council’s prior decision to permanently close the facility and to reduce the risk of sudden impacts to customers and swim clubs, Inglewood Aquatic Centre will close on December 22, 2024.

CITY COUNCIL APPROVES CITYWIDE REZONING (WITH AMENDMENTS)

After a 15-day Public Hearing, City Council has voted to approve citywide rezoning to allow for the construction of a variety low-density homes across Calgary.

In response to feedback from Calgarians, amendments have been introduced to address concerns regarding community engagement during the development permit phase, modified parking requirements, and adjustments to secondary suite allowances for row houses.

GREATER FOREST LAWN COMMUNITIES LOCAL AREA PLANNING - PHASE 4 REALIZE

The Greater Forest Lawn Communities Local Area Plan is currently in its final phase: REALIZE. The project is ready to be presented and brought forward to the community and Council for review and decision.

The GFL LAP sets the vision for the evolution of the area over the next 30 years including direction on future development and investment that residents, landowners, builders/developers, City Planners, and Councillors can commonly refer to as new development and investment ideas are proposed.

Ogden Dale Road SE upgrades

Inglewood + Ramsay Community Cleanup + BBQ

On Saturday, May 4. Inglewood and Ramsay volunteers will come together to give the neighbourhood a spring cleaning - Spruce Up Inglewood and Ramsay, The City of Calgary Pathway and River cleanup, and self-led community clean-ups will take place during the morning of May 4th. Following the cleanup, community members are invited to gather for a community BBQ at the Inglewood Community Hall.

Sign up for one of several public clean-up areas around the community, or a volunteer shift at the community BBQ.

Construction Update: Inglewood Water Main Replacement - April + May, 2024
