Bridgeland Main Street: Phase Two Construction Update
This construction season as part of the Bridgeland Main Street project, you can expect to see work occurring in multiple street blocks at a time, in stages along 1 Avenue N.E. from 11 Street to 7A Street N.E. Crews are finishing construction on 1 Avenue between 9A Street to 11 Street N.E. and we are targeting completion by the end of June 2024.
Upcoming work
During the week of June 23, the second stage of construction will begin on the south side of 1 Avenue N.E. between 8A to 9A Streets N.E., and work is expected to last approximately 2 months.
Minor sidewalk reconstruction along 2 Avenue at intersections between 6 Street to 10 Street N.E. will continue concurrently and last throughout the year which is expected to have minimal effect to traffic access through the community.
The included maps show the work areas, detour plans, and available nearby street parking for 1 Avenue N.E.
Please note, construction is variable, and the schedule is subject to change depending on factors such as complexity, weather, supply chain, and access. We appreciate your patience while crews are working in your area.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT DURING CONSTRUCTION:
The construction work hours for the Main Streets Program are Monday to Saturday from 7a.m. to 10p.m., and construction activity on weekends, weekdays, and overnight as required. Visit Calgary.ca/bridgelandmainstreet to find ongoing updates on construction activities and detour information.
Temporary Parking Changes
As part of ongoing construction along 1 Avenue N.E. in Bridgeland, we would like to inform you of temporary changes to street parking beside your property to support business vitality and community access during Bridgeland’s streetscape improvements construction.
In accordance with the provisions of the Calgary Parking Policies, we are temporarily changing the existing residential permit parking “G” zones into short term public parking at the below locations:
The south side of 1 Avenue between 9A Street and 10 Street N.E.
The east and west sides of 9A Street between 1 Avenue and 2 Avenue N.E.
The east and west sides of 9 Street between 1 Avenue and 2 Avenue N.E.
HOW DOES THIS AFFECT PARKING IN THE AREA?
During this period, individuals will be able to utilize this section of the street for short-term parking, as indicated by signage.
There is no change to parking permissions for holders of Residential Parking Permits “G”. Permit holders will be able to park in these areas during the day with no time limit on their stay, as well as overnight and on weekends.
For more information on Residential Parking Permit “G” options, please go to maps.calgary.ca/CalgaryParking
WHEN WILL THIS HAPPEN?
We expect this change to begin the week of June 23 and will remain in effect for the duration of the construction closures. This change is anticipated to last until the end of the construction season in 2024. After this period the parking designation of this area will be returned to its original state.
