Bridgeland Main Street: Phase One Update
The Bridgeland Main Streets project is moving into the second season of construction, and we want to provide you with an outline of the immediate work and what you can expect during the construction season.
Phase one includes streetscape improvements and infrastructure upgrades along Edmonton Tr from Memorial Drive to 2 Avenue N.E. as well as Gateway features on Memorial Drive beneath the 4 Ave flyover and at the triangle where 4 Street meets Edmonton Trai.
The map above shows the completed work in orange and the 2023 work in green.
Work is expected to start the week of April 17, 2023. Please note, construction is variable, and the schedule is subject to change depending on factors such as complexity, weather, supply chain, and access.
You can expect to see an increase in on-site construction activity, including construction crews, vehicles and heavy equipment, noise, and vibrations throughout construction from motorized equipment, ground compaction, vehicle back-up alarms, and soil disturbance and dust emissions. The construction work hours for the Main Streets Program are Monday to Saturday from 7 AM – 10 PM, and construction activity on weekends, weekdays, and overnight as required. Visit Calgary.ca/bridgelandmainstreet to find ongoing updates on construction activities and detour information.
Anticipated Schedule:
This construction season, work between Memorial Drive and 2 Avenue N.E. is primarily located along Edmonton Trail, with improvements at the north end of 4 Street N.E. and the Gateway area near Memorial. Drive. We expect Phase One of the Bridgeland Main Street to be complete in the Fall of 2023.
This season, we will continue with sidewalk widening and replacement, improved crossings, tree planting, and green space improvements. Below you will find more information on the first two sections of work and the attached map shows the 2023 work areas in green.
