Update: Inglewood Sanitary Trunk (March 11, 2020)
Please read the following update from Administration regarding the Inglewood Sanitary Trunk Project:
With the closure of the CP Rail Crossing at 9 Avenue and 8 Street S.E we have lost the most direct route for trucks to access the work area and have determined that the safest alternate route for community, driver and pedestrian safety, would be 8 Street/Spiller Road S.E via 25 Avenue S.E.
The other alternative route, MacDonald Avenue S.E., requires travel over the MacDonald Bridge and Whissell’s trucks exceed its height and weight restrictions. Due to the size of the material being transported, it is not possible to use smaller/lighter vehicles.
The turning radius of certain trucks pose a safety risk for other drivers and pedestrians when the vehicles are moving onto, and off of, MacDonald Bridge.
The route via 8 Street/Spiller Road S.E. is more direct, requiring fewer turns and creates fewer blind spots which pose a safety risk for other drivers and pedestrians.
The turning radius of certain trucks also prevent us from detouring to and from 8 Street/Spiller Road S.E. via 21 Avenue S.E.
Work at the site is expected to be completed in August with the highest trucking activity occurring now until the end of March, and then again from late April to late May. Outside of these periods, there will be a smaller volume of activity.
The safety and well-being of the community is a top priority: To lessen disruption, we will attempt to minimize trucking activity adjacent to Ramsay School during morning drop-offs and afternoon pick-ups during the school year.
