July 1st Canada Day Engagement: Help make a Canada Day for everyone
Every year on July 1, Calgarians and visitors gather downtown for Canada Day. The free and family-friendly City of Calgary event showcases our country’s culture and Calgary’s diverse community. Each year’s event features an Indigenous showcase and powwow, cultural performances and activities, live music, fireworks and more.
Canada Day is a time to come together to celebrate community. Whether it’s sharing in the culture of those who move here from all over the world, honouring the rich traditions of Indigenous history and culture or enjoying rockin’ Canadian talent on the main stage, there’s so much to experience.
It’s been more than 10 years since we’ve broadly heard from Calgarians about our city’s Canada Day event. With Calgary being the third most culturally diverse city in Canada, we want to make sure the Canada Day festivities and experiences reflect our city’s and country’s diverse interests and backgrounds. We want to ensure Canada Day celebrations reflect the many different interests and backgrounds of Calgarians. Whether you attend often or haven’t attended for a while, this is your opportunity to tell us what’s important to you on Canada Day and what an ideal downtown event looks like.
Help make a Canada Day for everyone by filling out the survey at calgary.ca/CanadaDaySurvey. The deadline to provide your input is July 4, 2024. Feedback collected will be used to shape Calgary’s Canada Day celebrations in 2025 and beyond.
This year’s July 1st Canada Day celebrations will include a full day of family-friendly programming in three downtown locations and end with a fireworks show above Stampede Park. Calgary.ca/CanadaDay has more information about this year’s event, and further details will be added in mid-June when main stage musical acts are announced.
