2024 Emergency Preparedness Week: May 5–11
Emergency Preparedness (EP) Week is May 5–11, 2024. This is an annual event that takes place across Canada every May to encourage people to prepare for the range of emergencies that could happen in their communities.
Emergencies can happen anytime and anywhere. There are actions Calgarians can take to get prepared for emergencies to protect the people, property and pets you care about the most.
The City has resources to help you get prepared, including a fillable Emergency Action Plan, available in multiple languages, that can help you and your family know what to do and who to contact during an emergency; a video series with tips to prepare your home for emergencies; our Ready Squad program for youth ages 7-12, that teaches kids about the types of emergencies that can occur in Calgary and how to prepare for them, and more.
In addition, the Calgary Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) will have an emergency preparedness booth at several locations during Emergency Preparedness Week with resources to help Calgarians prepare their household for emergencies.
