10th Annual Neighbour Day - Saturday, June 17th!
Neighbour Day started in June 2014 to celebrate the incredible outpouring of support and generosity of neighbours following the 2013 floods. Each year on the third Saturday in June, we continue to celebrate one of the things that makes Calgary such a great city — our strong and caring communities.
The event has evolved to be an opportunity for communities across the city to come together in the form of BBQs, block parties, sports activities, cleanups, and potlucks to meet their neighbours and celebrate, and foster a sense of community.
Now is the time to start planning! The 10th annual Neighbour Day will be held on Saturday, June 17 and provides the opportunity for Calgarians to celebrate our community spirit and kindness by helping to facilitate enjoyable activities for everyone!
To help you celebrate on June 17, The City of Calgary is providing resources and support for residents to organize activities with neighbours, including waiving the fees for block party and greenspace permits. The permit application deadline is May 28. You can also request a visit from Mayor Gondek, your area councillor, police officers, firefighters, or peace officers.
Visit calgary.ca/NeighbourDay for more information, including ideas for your events, information about permits, opportunities to invite City officials, and promotional tools.
Strong neighbourhoods are important to the health and well-being of our whole city. When neighbourhoods thrive, the people who live there thrive too.
