ActivateYYC - Community Grant Applications Now Open
ActivateYYC is a unique grant that focuses on tactical urbanism - small temporary low-cost initiatives that help change how people use and interact with spaces. Tactical urbanism initiatives spark neighbourly conversations which build community connection, increase the movement of residents in a community, and create safer streets. Many of the projects challenge city processes and some even lead to permanent changes.
ActivateYYC started as a tactical urbanism microgrant initiative by the Federation of Calgary Communities, aiming to support volunteer-driven projects that engage the community and create meaningful changes to shared spaces. Communities and residents are invited to reimagine spaces across Calgary as places of greater activity and connectivity through temporary initiatives that transform space into place, promote movement, safety, and neighbourliness.
ActivateYYC 2022 will have two funding streams: $1000 Walk, Play and Be Neighbourly and $3000 Bump-Outs & Pathways.
If your community has an area that could benefit from rethinking the way it currently functions, gather a few nieghbours, dream up a plan, and apply for one of these community grants today.
