Inglewood Sanitary Trunk Phase Two: Project Update
Phase Two of the Inglewood Sanitary Trunk (IST) project is underway, with an anticipated completion date of July 2025.
As part of this project, a concrete shaft was built above the normal ground elevation that will need to be leveled with the surrounding greenspace. Due to this, the top two metres of this shaft will need to be demolished to bring it below normal ground elevation so we can eventually plant grass and restore its original look. Once this has been completed, there will be manholes and a curved pipe/vent called a “gooseneck,” along with paving stones in the area so crews have access for required maintenance.
Construction Schedule
Demolition work is anticipated to begin mid-January and take approximately two weeks to complete. This work was initially scheduled to take place in December 2024, but the construction schedule did not allow for this work to be completed at that time.
Construction Impacts
On-site construction activity including construction crews, vehicles, and heavy equipment.
Noise, vibrations and dust. Noise levels will be louder than usual and will be monitored.
Work hours will still be from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. however demolition of the concrete will take place from 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Monday – Friday.
Detours
Pedestrian, pathway and vehicle detours will be in place at 8 Ave S.E. for the remainder of this project. For the most up-to-date detour information related to this project, please visit www.calgary.ca/ist.
