4th Avenue Flyover Rehabilitation - Project Update: + Road Closures
It was a busy summer for crews working on the 4th Ave Flyover Rehabilitation project.
Since our last update, crews have:
Removed the existing curb and deck concrete overlay;
Completed pours of the new curb and deck on the left-hand lane; and
Replaced the cast to finish the roadway barrier sections.
We also reached a significant milestone for the project with the completion of the underwater pier repairs on September 4th.
Upcoming Flyover Closures
Please be prepared for upcoming overnight closures rotating between Riverfront Avenue and Memorial Drive/Edmonton Trail NE beginning on September 23rd, 2024. The closures are anticipated to occur overnight (9:00 pm to 5:00 am) and last approximately four weeks.
In order to transition work from the left-hand lane to the right-hand lane, the 4th Avenue Flyover bridge will be fully closed to traffic over a weekend near the end of October. Specific dates will posted at calgary.ca/4AveFlyoverRehab when available.
Though impacts to Calgarians are anticipated to be minimal, we apologize for any inconvenience these closures may cause and appreciate your patience during construction.
