Inglewood Sanitary Trunk Project: Construction Update
Phase Two of the Inglewood Sanitary Trunk (IST) project is underway, with the full project anticipated to be complete by July 2025.
Construction Schedule
Early August 2024
Tunnel drive number two under the Bow River is complete.
Late August 2024
The intersection at 8 Ave S.W. and 9 St S.E. will be closed for approximately two months while our team retrieves the microtunnel machine from tunnel drive number three and connects to the Inglewood Sanitary Trunk Phase One and existing Inner-City Sanitary Trunk.
This work is anticipated to be completed by November 2024.
Tunnel drive number three will begin and run from the green space to 8 Ave S.E.
Early October 2024
Crews will be onsite for cleaning of the existing Inner-City Sanitary Trunk.
Early to Mid 2025
The tunnelling work on the southside of the river will be complete, with crews working on installing the connection pipes, site restoration and plantings.
Crews will also be working on the northside of the river to connect to a sanitary trunk that runs underneath Memorial Drive N.W.
Note: Enmax transmission lines running through the greenspace are coming down as the transmission relocation project is complete. Our crews are working with Enmax to try to have these lines removed in August 2024. Enmax will be providing additional communications about the removal of these lines.
Construction Impacts
On-site construction activity including construction crews, vehicles, and heavy equipment.
Noise, vibrations and dust. Noise levels will be monitored.
Limited on-street parking.
Open sewer work to remove the microtunnel machine, leading to an odor in the community.
Work throughout the night will only be required if our crews encounter any unfavourable ground conditions.
Detours
Pedestrian, pathway and vehicle detours will be in place at 8 Ave S.E. for the remainder of this project. For the most up-to-date detour information related to this project, please visit www.calgary.ca/ist.
Pathway detour information can always be found at maps.calgary.ca/PathwaysandBikeways
We thank residents for your patience and understanding while we complete this necessary work.
