Inglewood/Ramsay - Upcoming Construction Overview
As we make way for the GreenLine LRT, a few key updates in Ramsay and Inglewood are needed to keep the community safe, beautiful, and vibrant.
With several City projects scheduled this season, coordinating work schedules to ensure the delivery of the right projects at the right time with as little disruption to the communities as possible is a priority.
2024 Construction Schedule
Water Main Replacement + Extension - 12 Street SE
The City is preparing to replace and extend the water mains along 12 St SE between 8 Av SE and 11 Av SE to accommodate future growth and development within the community, in advance of the planned surface improvements for the area.
Water main construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in mid-April and is expected to be complete by June 30, 2024.
Traffic disruptions might include temporary no on-street parking, possible single lane only traffic or a full road closure.
Cycling Infrastructure Updates - 11 Street/ 12 Street SE
Following the water main installation, The City will be making the existing 11 St/12 St SE cycling path safer until a new multi-use pathway can be installed as part of the Public Realm Improvement Project, coming in 2025.
The cycling path will change to one-way southbound, with a separate dedicated northbound lane added for cyclists on the eastside of the corridor. Temporary curbs with vertical indicators will be installed to provide more consistent separation for cyclists and to support continued emergency access along this corridor.
Sidewalk Repairs - 9th Ave SE
The City’s maintenance crews will be performing some much-needed repairs to the existing sidewalk on 9 Avenue, mainly near 9 Street and 14 Street. This may require some short term, right hand (curb) lane closures along 9 Avenue.
Public Realm Improvements - Inglewood + Ramsay
Planning of the exciting Ramsay Inglewood Public Realm Improvement Project is underway, and the City will be discussing details including the replacement of the 11 St/12 St roadway from 8 Ave to 21 Ave with landowners, businesses, and residents in the coming months. They will work closely with the Ward 9 office, the Community Association, and BIA to ensure the community’s needs and priorities are reflected in their plans. Construction timelines and sequencing details will be shared as they are confirmed.
Sanitary Trunk Project - Pathway + Road Closures
As part of The Inglewood Sanitary Trunk Project there are two active pathway closures along the Bow River (north and south) in effect until the project is complete in the summer of 2025. An anticipated road closure is planned this August and September at the intersection of 9 Street and 8 Avenue SE and three separate and phased detours are in effect on eastbound Memorial Drive (west of Baines Bridge) until July 2025.
More detailed project information will be shared closer to the construction start dates. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to complete these important infrastructure and community improvement projects.
