Road Closure: Blackfoot Trail over 9 Avenue S.E. Bridge Rehabilitation
Blackfoot Trail over 9th Avenue S.E. bridge is a 4-lane structure with two southbound and two northbound lanes. This bridge has been identified for a major rehabilitation to address deterioration. This rehabilitation is expected to improve conditions for motorists and those walking and wheeling along 9 Avenue S.E.
9th Ave Road Closure
As The City work towards finalizing the design for this rehabilitation, we will need to conduct an inspection of the underside of the bridge. To facilitate this inspection, 9th Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic from 15 Street S.E. to 16 Street S.E. starting February 8th at 9 p.m. and will re-open the following morning on February 9th at 5 a.m.
Variable message boards and detour signage will be in place throughout the area during the closure to redirect vehicle traffic. Pedestrian and wheeling traffic will be permitted along 9th Avenue during the inspection on the south sidewalk only. There will be minimal impacts to the scheduled bus service as buses departing from and arriving to the BRT terminal will be detoured off of/around 9th Avenue during the inspection.
We apologize for any inconvenience this closure may cause and we thank you for your patience as we carry out this important work.
