Southview Housing - Community Information Session
Calgary Housing is hosting their first public information session about an upcoming Southview Mixed-Income Housing project proposed for the community.
The Southview housing development, located at 1820 33 Street SE, Calgary, is bringing much needed new housing to the neighbourhood at affordable rents. The site previously held 96 units of affordable housing that were demolished in 2014 due to age and disrepair. The majority of housing in Southview was built prior to 1980. This new development will provide between 200 and 400 homes, subject to the land use for the site.
The site offers advantages such as proximity to downtown Calgary, access to public transit and is a short distance from grocery stores, churches, schools, community halls, and multiple amenities. 21 percent of the units will be barrier free to accommodate people with accessibility needs. The development plans to include 1, 2, 3 & 4 bedroom units to accommodate a range of family sizes.
On Thursday, October 24 from 6 to 8 pm, residents are invited to attend the Southview Community Association (2020 33 street SE)
