Bridgeland Main Street: Phase Two Starting August 2023
Construction for Phase Two of the Bridgeland Main Street is moving into construction, and we want to provide you with an outline of the work and what you can expect during construction. You will see operational and streetscape improvements along 1 Avenue N.E. from 4 Street N.E. to 11 Street N.E., and along 2 Avenue N.E. between 6 Street N.E. to 10 Street N.E.
We expect to start the week of August 28. The second phase of the Bridgeland Main Streets is expected to be in construction until Fall 2025. We want to thank you for your patience while we complete this important work. Please note, construction is variable, and the schedule is subject to change depending on factors such as complexity, weather, supply chain, and access.
You can expect to see an increase in on-site construction activity, including construction crews, vehicles and heavy equipment, noise, and vibrations throughout construction from motorized equipment, ground compaction and vehicle back-up alarms, and soil disturbance and dust emissions. The construction work hours for the Main Streets Program are Monday to Saturday from 7 AM – 10 PM, and construction activity on weekends, weekdays, and overnight as required. Visit Calgary.ca/bridgelandmainstreet to find ongoing updates on construction activities and detour information.

Anticipated Schedule:
This construction season, you can expect to see the focus of on the South side of 1 Avenue N.E. from 11 Street to 9A Street N.E. Work is expected to take 7-8 weeks and start on August 28. We appreciate your patience while crews are working in your area. We know that construction impacts can be disruptive, and we will work to mitigate impacts as best that we can.
What you can expect during construction:
When construction is underway, here's what you can expect:
Sidewalk closures and detours ensure pedestrians and cyclists can travel safely through the area and still access their destinations.
We will work directly with individual businesses to minimize the impacts of construction and provide continued access to their property as much as possible.
The temporary closure of some parking, roads, and potential road detours. Traffic will be maintained during construction, by way of local detours.
An increase in on-site construction activity, including construction crews, vehicles and heavy equipment, and an increase in noise and vibration throughout construction.
Temporary transit stop relocations are required.
Please note, construction in an older community like this means that sometimes we run into surprises during construction. We don't anticipate any issues, but the timeline could be impacted should we discover any surprises.
