Chinook Community Local Area Planning - Phase II Engagement
The City of Calgary is currently in the second phase of the Chinook Community Local Area Planning project, which includes the communities of Manchester and Manchester Industrial. Some great conversations and engagements have already taken place with the working group and local community associations.
Opportunities for the public to get involved are open from November 14 to December 11, 2023.
Through this phase of engagement, we’re discussing the draft Vision and Core Values for the Chinook Communities, different types of growth (moderate-to large-scale), and potential focus areas for growth and change.
Input shared through previous engagement on the Chinook Communities’ draft Vision and Core Values, and existing policy and land use (zoning) were key considerations in determining the proposed potential focus areas for growth in the area.
There are a variety of ways for people to get involved in this phase of engagement including:
providing feedback online (HERE)
completing the engagement booklet that’s mailed out (or can also be found at a local Engage Station),
or by joining a virtual and/or in-person engagement session.

PROJECT BACKGROUND
Communities change and evolve over time. Conversations about where, why and how revitalization and redevelopment should happen are essential to ensure our communities change in the right ways.
Working together, we'll create a local area plan to guide the evolution of the Chinook Communities over the next 30 years. The Chinook Communities include Bel-Aire, Britannia, Elboya, Manchester, Mayfair, Meadowlark Park, Parkhill, Windsor Park, a south portion of Manchester Industrial, and a small eastern portion of Glenmore Park.
Your feedback, as well as feedback from your neighbours and other community members, will help create a local area plan that’ll help ensure change happens in the right ways in the Chinook Communities.
A local area plan sets the vision for the evolution of the area over the next 30 years. It provides direction on future development and investment that residents, landowners, builders/developers, City Planners and Council can commonly refer to when new development and investment ideas are proposed.
