Dover Neighbourhood Streets Project Receives $1.3 million
We are excited to share that the Dover Neighbourhoods Streets project received $1.3 million in funding from the Government of Canada’s Active Transportation Fund.
This means that we will be able to move forward with more active transportation and traffic calming improvements in the community. These improvements will help safely connect residents of all ages and abilities to the Bow River pathway, shops, schools and more.
The scope of work and design will be finalized over the next few months, with feedback received from residents in 2021 on improvements to Gosling Way, 28 Street, 36 Street, and Dover Drive Drive / Dovercliffe Way S.E. being used to help inform the next phase of work.
Phase 1 construction for 34 Avenue S.E. was mostly completed in 2022. Construction will wrap up along 34 Avenue S.E. in 2023. Due to freezing temperatures, some minor construction will happen this spring. This includes some pathway work, line painting, and landscaping, which all require warmer/dryer temperatures. We can also expect new signage, including bikeway wayfinding signage, and educational signage for the naturalization areas.
