Calgary's Anti-Racism Action Committee Community Engagement Opportunities
The City of Calgary’s Anti-Racism Action Committee (ARAC) was formed in 2020 to help support the learning, action, and ever-present need to combat systemic racism in Calgary. They diverse group of Calgarians that advise Council and provide leadership on developing and implementing a community-based anti-racism strategy.
ARAC will be hosting two community engagement opportunities in early March:
Addressing Anti-South Asian Hate
March 7th, 4-7pm at the Municipal Building
Community members have been concerned about the increasing amount of hate directed toward South-Asian communities. After consultation with council members and members of the public, it was suggested that a community engagement be held to voice out these concerns in a respectful and safe manner. All are welcome to take part in this conversation.
Eyes on Social Services
March 9th, 12-4pm, LOCATION TBD
Community members have been concerned about the drastic changes occurring within social services and the lack of resources available for vulnerable groups across Calgary. After consultation with council members, members of the public, and social service agencies, it was suggested that a community engagement be held to voice out these concerns in a respectful and safe manner. All are welcome to take part in this conversation.
