HMCS Calgary's 28th Anniversary

This past weekend, we were honoured to be able to celebrate the 28th anniversary of the HMCS Calgary’s commissioning. 

As our city’s namesake ship, HMCS Calgary conducts Royal Canadian Navy operations in support of Canada’s domestic and international policies.

Guests were invited to experience a variety of unique events, including a guided tour of the HMCS Ottawa Warship and a day sail demonstration on an ORCA Patrol Vessel. Events over the weekend all helped to raise funds for the ship’s official charity - the Foothill Hospital Burn Unit. 

A very special thank you to CO, Cdr Lozer, and all the wonderful crew from HMCS Calgary and CFB Esquimalt for making this weekend so memorable. 

With respect and gratitude, we honour the traditional territories of the Treaty 7 Peoples, including the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Piikani, Amskaapipiikani, and Kainai First Nations), the Îethka Nakoda Wîcastabi First Nations (Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Northwest Métis and Otipemisiwak Métis Government, including Métis Nation Battle River Territory, Nose Hill Métis District 5, and Elbow Métis District 6.
