New Year’s Eve Fireworks Celebration
On New Year’s Eve, Calgarians are invited to ring in 2024 with a midnight fireworks show launched from Prince’s Island Park. The spectacular display will be synchronized to music on CJSW 90.9 FM, highlighting the talents of Canadian artists.
Watch the fireworks from any location with a view of Prince’s Island Park or from home via livestream at calgary.ca/NYE.
NOTE: Fireworks will not likely be visible from Scotsman’s Hill in Ramsay.
Be sure to tune in to CJSW 90.9 FM at 11:55 p.m. for a blessing from Indigenous Elder Clarence Wolfleg, followed by a countdown to midnight with Mayor Jyoti Gondek and the accompanying fireworks soundtrack.
In addition to New Year’s Eve fireworks, Calgarians can also enjoy extended hours at the Olympic Plaza skating rink from 10 a.m. to midnight or support the community by exploring local shops and restaurants.
To help you get home safely, Calgary Transit will be offering free transit service on New Year’s Eve, courtesy of TD Canada. There will also be extended service hours on New Year’s Eve - the CTrain will run until 4 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2024. Routes 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 22, 301, 302, MAX Orange, MAX Yellow, MAX Teal and MAX Purple will run until 3 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2024. For traffic safety during the fireworks, Crescent Road N.W. from 4th Street N.W. to 1st Street N.W. will be closed from 10 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2023, to 1 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2024.
