Residential Land Use bylaw Changes
At tomorrow’s Combined Meeting of Council, a public hearing and debate will take place on the proposed amendments to the Land Use Bylaw, including a new Housing–Grade-Oriented district (H-GO) and improvements to the existing Residential–Grade-Oriented land use district (R-CG).
It is important to note that this is not blanket rezoning, but rather a step toward increasing housing diversity and Missing Middle housing in Calgary by adding flexibility to how different homes can be designed on a parcel of land.
These changes do not:
pre-approve development
increase the number of homes that are allowed
decrease the ability to make comments on future development applications
The Federation of Calgary Communities hosted two online discussions with the @yycplan team, answering FAQs on the proposed changes to residential zoning – these conversations offer important insight and information and are a great starting point if you are eager to learn more:
Members of the public are welcome to view and participate in tomorrow's Combined Meeting of Council, either in person or virtually. If you wish to share your comments or register to speak, more info can be found HERE.
